The clip, captured last week, shows trees moving and the ground shaking in the woodland of Quebec, Canada.
It looks like something straight out of a sci-fi film, as the soil rises and falls on its own accord.
It was captured by stunned explorers, who described the phenomenon as looking like the ground was “breathing”.
And it quickly gained popularity online for its bizarre behaviour.
“”That is the creepiest thing I’ve ever seen”
Hayler Morestein shared the clip on his Twitter account, where it has now racked up more than 28,000 hits.
“This video of a forest in Canada looks like it’s breathing and it is the scariest thing I’ve seen all month,” he revealed.
And followers felt the same.
“Christ that’s unnerving,” one revealed.
Another added: “Someone almost woke up the Earth titans.”
And a third claimed: “That is the creepiest thing I’ve ever seen.”
But there is a reasonable explanation behind the madness.
The event actually occurs due to the weather in the area.
During a storm, the ground becomes saturated with water and this reduces the soil’s solidarity.
As strong winds move the top of the tree, the force is transferred to the stem – acting like a lever.
The roots then pull and the ground appears to be pushing out.
