Asos has poached Britvic’s head of finance after not having anyone in charge of the division permanently for a year.

Mathew Dunn will join the online fashion group in spring 2019, a replacement for Helen Ashton who left in March after expressing her ‘desire to move on’.

Dunn, 44, has also worked at SAB Miller before it was snapped up by rival AB InBev for £79 billion.

During his time at the brewer he played a key role in the acquisition of the Foster’s lager brand.

He also spent a year as the chief financial officer of the catalogue division at music publishing conglomerate EMI.

Asos, which is popular with millennials, revealed a £500 million increase in sales last year.

The firm is worth almost £5 billion – more than Marks & Spencer, which has a market value of £4.6 billion.

Chief executive Nick Beighton, who has been filling in while the firm searched for Ashton’s replacement, said: ‘I’m looking forward to working with Mathew.

‘He brings us a history of implementing and overseeing finance systems at an international level.’

Shares closed 2.3 per cent, or 138p lower, at 5782p.
